WASH CARE

To ensure a long lifespan, your home decor products need special care. To help you in this regard, listed below are the DOs and DON’Ts you should keep in mind while caring for your AIRAVATA CUSHION COVERS.

  • RAW SILK and SILK
    DOs

    Have the material dry cleaned to be sure that it will be treated safely.

    Gentle hand wash separately in cold water.

    A detergent specially designed for the purpose is best for washing silk.

    Always dry in shade. Sun can bleach the color of delicate silk.

  • COTTON and KHADI
    DOs

    Use cold washing cycles. This is to help avoid damage to the fabric. Washing on a gentle cold-water cycle also helps avoid shrinkage of fibers.

    Wash with like colours and turn inside out before putting in the wash.

    If hang drying, dry inside out to avoid colour fading. If using a tumble dry, dry on low heat.

    Leave the cushion cover slightly damp. It is easier to insert the cushion foam into the casing and then air dried on the sofa.

  • CHANDERI and SUEDE
    DOs

    Dry clean only.

  • DON’Ts

    Do not wash your cushion cover in hot water.

    Do not keep your cover soaked for more than 5 minutes in water while washing.

    Do not wring the excess water out of the silk piece.

    Do not tumble dry. The heat can damage the silk fibres.

  • DON’Ts

    Do not dry in excessive heat.High heat can cause cotton fibers to shrink.

  • DON’Ts

    Do not hand wash Chanderi. Water may oxidize the silver zari and make it go black.

  • Embroidered products should be DRY CLEANED
  • The process of kalamkari requires fabric to be dyed in natural dyes. In this case, hand wash kalamkari cotton separately or dry clean kalamkari silk as natural dyes commonly bleed.

To ensure longevity of your garments for a long lasting wardrobe, it is imperative to treat them with utmost care. To help you in this regard, listed below are the DOs and DON’Ts you should keep in mind while caring for your AIRAVATA GARMENTS.

  • RAW SILK and SILK
    DOs

    When it comes to your raw silk couture items or garments with fusing ,have the material dry cleaned to be sure that it will be treated safely

    If your silk garment is worn as an everyday casual piece, hand wash it.

    Wash your garment individually in luke warm water with a very mild laundry detergent. Rinse in cool water. If possible, add a tea spoon of vinegar to balance the ph level of the detergent.

    Wrap in a dry towel to soak the water. Hang to drip dry

    Dry your garment in shade because the sun can bleach the color of the delicate silk, leaving it lighter and more worn looking.

    Iron inside out when slightly moist with a low heat setting.

  • COTTON and KHADI
    DOs

    Preferably hand wash. If you machine wash your product, cold wash on a gentle cycle

    Wash with like colours and turn garments inside out before putting in the wash.

    Hang dry inside out to avoid colour fading.

    If using a tumble dry, dry on low heat. Remove items promptly from dryer, preferably when still damp.

    Start ironing the inside of the fabric first, so as to eliminate creases while ironing on the outside.

    DOs

    Dry clean only.

  • DON’Ts

    Do not wash your garment in hot water. Do not tumble dry.

    Do not keep your garment soaked for more than 5 minutes in water while washing.

    Do not wring the excess water out of the silk garment.

    Do not iron on high heat. Remember, silk like your hair is a protien fibre and heat can damage it.

    Do not spray silk with perfume or deodrant.

  • DON’Ts

    Do not dry in excessive heat. High heat can cause cotton fibers to shrink.

    Avoid fabric softeners , as it dulls the fabric finish.

  • DON’Ts

    Do not hand wash Chanderi. Water may oxidize the silver zari and make it go black.

  • It is adviced to dry clean any garment the first time around and proceed with the appropriate wash care the next time.
